We have to spend the best hours of our days and the best days of our weeks at work. While no one gets excited about corporate training, done well, it gives people the opportunity to see what they’re capable of. Leadership is both an art and a science. Developing it pays off for the leader and everyone they support and work with.
Somewhere along the way I picked up a healthy frustration with how this field talks to itself. I hear a lot of big ideas that sound excellent in a keynote. Then you try to translate them into the work, and they evaporate on contact. The ideal version runs into the budget, time, tools, and culture already in place.
I started writing about what it takes to make those ideas work. I don’t believe in artistic secrets. If I learn something useful from the work or from sources outside the discipline, I share it. At Cross Street Coaching, I ask the hard questions about how learning and development can keep up with the way people learn and grow at work.
